Questions

Questions about docks, shore power and us

Do you work on boats?

No. We wire the dock side: pedestals, feeders, lifts and lights. Wiring inside a boat needs a marine electrician trained in boat standards, and we say so on the first call.

Is it safe to swim near our dock?

The sources we read say no: nobody should swim in or near a marina, dock or boatyard where AC power is in use. A green light on a leakage detector doesn't change that. The dock safety page names each source.

What should I ask my marina?

Ask whether qualified electricians who know NFPA 303 and NFPA 70 inspect it regularly, and whether ground-fault protection is on the shore-power pedestals and wiring circuits. That comes from the Electric Shock Drowning Prevention Association.

Why does our pedestal breaker keep tripping?

A trip can mean a fault on the boat, in the cord or at the pedestal. Unplug the boat and call us; we test the pedestal, and the boat's electrician checks the boat. We don't reset it for you over the phone.

Do you take night or weekend calls?

No. We work weekdays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For fire or injury, call 911. We schedule the repair the next working day.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. The county license class and the insurance entry are in the footer, and the certificate is available on request.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We apply to Anne Arundel County and book the inspection. A waterfront permit, if the job needs one, is the owner's or marina's, and we tell you at the walk.

What does a dock walk cost?

A visit fee, quoted when you book and credited to the work if you book within 30 days. The pricing page says what moves the final number.

Can I text you a photo?

Yes, text a picture of the pedestal, panel or lift to (410) 555-0101. We reply in office hours.

Still have a question?

Call, text or book a dock walk.
